KVIST Interior Design Shortlisted for the BIID Interior Design Awards 2026
We are delighted to announce that one of our recent commercial interior projects with KVIST Interior Design has been shortlisted in the South East Commercial category at the BIID Interior Design Awards 2026.
The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) organises the awards each year. They celebrate the very best commercial and residential interior design projects across the UK. The awards recognise creativity, innovation, functionality and exceptional user experience.
This shortlist recognition is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the project. It also reflects the strong collaboration between the design team, client and supply partners.
A Contemporary Workplace Designed Around People
The shortlisted project was created to deliver a modern, flexible and highly functional workplace environment that supports collaboration, employee wellbeing and day-to-day productivity.
Workplace expectations continue to evolve. Therefore, the design focused on balancing focused work, collaboration and social interaction. At the same time, the interior needed to feel welcoming, flexible and visually engaging.
The completed commercial office interior incorporates a variety of working environments, including:
- Open-plan workspace areas
- Acoustic meeting pods
- Collaborative breakout zones
- Flexible meeting rooms
- Informal touchdown spaces
- Staff wellbeing areas
- Contemporary kitchen and hospitality settings
Throughout the project, the team prioritised user experience. As a result, the workplace feels both practical and inspiring for employees and visitors.
Commercial Interior Design Focused on Wellbeing
A key part of the design strategy was creating an office environment that enhances wellbeing and supports a positive workplace culture.
The interior scheme combines soft colour palettes, natural textures, biophilic design elements and warm timber detailing. Together, these features create a calming and welcoming workspace.
Feature acoustic treatments, integrated planting and textured finishes soften the commercial environment. In addition, carefully planned lighting improves comfort and usability throughout the space.
The inclusion of acoustic meeting pods and adaptable collaboration zones also provides employees with a variety of settings suited to different styles of working, helping to improve concentration, communication and flexibility.
Modern workplace design is no longer only about desks and meeting rooms. Businesses now want commercial interiors that support wellbeing, creativity and company culture. This project reflects that shift perfectly.
Creating Flexible and Functional Office Interiors
One of the standout aspects of the project is the way flexibility has been integrated throughout the interior layout.
The space has been carefully designed to encourage movement, collaboration and interaction, while also providing quieter zones for focused working.
Open collaborative areas sit alongside enclosed meeting spaces and acoustic booths. Consequently, teams can work more dynamically throughout the day.
Large communal tables and breakout areas encourage connection and teamwork. Meanwhile, integrated technology and carefully selected furniture solutions keep the workspace practical, adaptable and future-focused.
The use of colour, materials and zoning also helps define individual areas within the office interior without compromising the open and connected feel of the overall space.
High Quality Commercial Furniture and Interior Finishes
Furniture and finishes played an important role in delivering the final aesthetic and functionality of the project.
The project includes contemporary lounge seating, ergonomic task chairs and bespoke meeting spaces. In addition, collaborative furniture solutions support the wider workplace design concept.
Natural timber finishes, soft upholstery tones and integrated planting create a hospitality-inspired office environment. As a result, the workplace feels more comfortable, engaging and people-focused.
This approach to commercial interior design helps businesses create spaces where employees genuinely want to spend time, improving both workplace satisfaction and overall employee experience.
